The global optical coatings market reached a value of US$ 13.7 Billion in 2021 and it is expected to reach a value of US$ 21.5 Billion by 2027[1].
The optical coating market is growing due to increasing adoption of optical coatings by end-use industries such as automotive, Consumer Electronics, Aerospace and Defense in major countries in Europe, such as Germany, France, Spain and the United Kingdom, and overseas in the US and in Middle East.
To meet this growing demand for special coatings, especially for filters with very selective bands and for broadband anti-reflection coatings, Tecnottica has inaugurated a highly specialized in-house Coating Department in May 2022.
Thanks to advanced machinery for Electron Beam Evaporation and ION Assisted Deposition, a Controlled and ISO certified environment, a rigorous Metrology and Control policy, Tecnottica’s Coating department finds extensive applications in all photonics and optics industry segments.
This investment was planned the continuous development of cutting-edge treatments, but also to support the company’s entry into new markets. In recent years, Tecnottica has experienced exponential growth in the Aerospace market (+50%) and in the US market (+50%).
The new Coating Department will also make it possible to organize and maximize the efficiency of all business areas of Tecnottica, guarantee a complete service, promptly provide the necessary documentation, trace each production batch, and reduce production time. The manufacturing centre will also facilitate better operating spaces, manufacturing process flows and state-of-the art equipment to boost the production.

In just six months, the 1.5 million of Euro facility is already able to reduce the production times by weeks for each batch; another memorable accomplishment for the Italian Company that expects a growth of 10% for 2023 thanks to the new highly specialized Coating Department.
